Winneconne Youth Archery manages a Scholastic 3D Archery team that competes in regional, state, and national events.

What is S3DA?

The S3DA is considered the "next step" youth archery organization to bridge the gap from beginner target archery to more advanced opportunities such as competitive target archery and bowhunting. The mission of the S3DA program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3-D, indoor and outdoor target archery, as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. Archers compete in divisions based on age, gender, and equipment used. Archers in the older age groups are eligible for college scholarships opportunities.

S3DA ages divisions include:

  • Jr Eagle - Ages 8 and under

  • Eagle - Ages 9-11

  • Youth - Ages 12-15

  • Young Adult - Ages 16-18 (19 if a high school senior)

The equipment classes are:

  • Fixed Pins

  • Open

  • Barebow

  • Olympic Recurve

3 Disciplines

The S3DA has three archery disciplines based on rules of their partner organizations.

Indoor Target

The Indoor Target season runs from mid December to early March each year. It is based off an NFAA indoor target round. Archers shoot a round of 30 arrows at a single or 5 spot target at a distance of 10 or 20 yards, dependent on age.

Outdoor 3D

The Outdoor 3D season runs from mid March to June each year and is based off ASA rules. Archers shoot a round of 20 3D targets at varying distances in an outdoor walk through course. Early season competitions may be held indoors depending on weather conditions.

Outdoor Target

The Outdoor Target season run simultaneous to the Outdoor 3D season, and is based on World Archery rules. Archers shoot a 36 arrow round at a single target. Outdoor Target has the longest distances of the three disciplines.

Practices are currently held Monday nights, although this may change depending on range schedule. We invite anyone interested in checking out the S3DA to join us for 3 practices, after which you will be required to join the S3DA. There is no requirement for how many practices or tournaments you attend.

There is a $30/year fee payable to the national S3DA to join, which includes insurance for each archer. Each tournament also has an associated fee due to the hosting team.
